Washington, D.C., November 15, 2019 – Award-winning creative communications firm Glen Echo Group announced today that Maura Corbett, founder and CEO, was selected as the Washington PR Woman of the Year by an esteemed panel of judges at Washington Women in Public Relations’ (WWPR) 30th annual Washington PR Woman of the Year Award Luncheon.
The prestigious award—which evaluates nominees on their success in the communications field, contributions to the community and industry leadership qualities—recognized veteran tech policy and communications expert Corbett for her ability to take complex issues and break them down into simple, creative messages that make people care. As CEO and Founder of the Glen Echo Group, Corbett leads the team’s award-winning work in telling the stories of the companies, people and organizations facing the shift to the digital, Internet-enabled world.
“This is an award for all women communicators in Washington,” said Corbett, “and especially my fellow nominees Susan Waldman and KayAnn Schoeneman. For 30 years, WWPR has celebrated and connected women leaders through this program, which has, in turn, created a mighty community of women leaders who regularly support and champion each other. It is humbling, and a genuine honor to be a part of this sisterhood.”
The PR Woman of the Year Award is sponsored by WWPR, a member-based professional society for female communicators in the DC market. The organization provides leadership opportunities, professional development, mentorship and industry networking. The other finalists honored were KayAnn Schoeneman, Ketchum and Susan Waldman, Meals on Wheels.
