Washington, DC, July 11, 2017 – Award-winning journalist Chris Frates has joined the strategic communications firm Glen Echo Group as senior counselor, advising clients on how to use innovative storytelling techniques to break through the nonstop news cycle. Frates brings over two decades of experience working at the highest levels of print, digital and broadcast journalism where he covered some of the nation’s biggest political and policy debates. He was most recently an on-air investigative correspondent for CNN and is the founder of Storyline, a fast-growing video storytelling company.
“I’ve spent my professional life telling stories from the front lines of the most complex political and policy battles in America and I’m excited to bring that expertise to Glen Echo Group’s roster of disrupters and innovators,” Frates said. “As innovative companies continue to transform business as usual into better, cheaper and faster ways of growing our economy, the ability to tell those compelling stories to the right audiences is going to make a huge difference.”
Frates is the founder of Storyline, a video storytelling firm that helps clients find, frame and tell powerful stories. Storyline’s award-winning, veteran journalists have a unique ability to identify the characters and the narratives that move audiences to act, and the digital savvy to reach them.
“Sailing the tumultuous waters of modern media, technology and politics is hard. Making the decision to work with Chris Frates to help navigate and narrate those waters is not,” said Maura Corbett, founder and CEO of Glen Echo Group. “Our team, our clients and our partners will benefit in a big way from his storytelling expertise, strategic counsel and his ability to think outside the margins.”
Most recently an on-air investigative correspondent for CNN, Frates has reported for Politico, National Journal and The Denver Post, where he was part of the breaking news team that was a finalist for the 2007 Pulitzer Prize. His work has appeared in the nation’s leading publications and news networks including The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Fast Company, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.
