Glen Echo Group Expands Cybersecurity Expertise, Adds Matthew Ballard to Growing Team

Washington, DC, June 30, 2016 –​ Today, the Glen Echo Group announces the hiring of communications professional, Matthew Ballard, as a Senior Associate with the fast­growing firm. His hire adds deepened cybersecurity communications capabilities to Glen Echo’s team of storytellers for the global, digital world.

Prior to joining the Glen Echo Group, Ballard spent nearly a decade as a communications and political specialist, most recently serving as the Deputy Communications Director for the U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee. In that role, Ballard led the Committee’s strategic communications and public relations efforts on cyber and national security.

Ballard, known for his ability to build strong relationships with journalists, takes pride in working with the press to educate and ensure accuracy in their reporting. Ballard also brings a talent for creating long­term communications strategies that aim to demystify and inform public opinion on the complicated and critical technology issues facing Americans.

Ballard previously led public relations efforts at a national military nonprofit, served as Communications Director to a Member of Congress, and worked on numerous political campaigns in Kentucky, Nevada and Indiana. He began his Washington, D.C. career in the White House Office of Political Affairs during the George W. Bush administration. Ballard hails from Bardstown, KY and currently resides in Alexandria with his wife, Charlene.
